![]() Two of the world-famous Class A Neve 1073 microphone preamplifiers are housed in a single rackspace, making this a fantastic addition to the Neve outboard collection. The 1073 is capable of handling everything from drums to guitar amps to vocals and even orchestra. Keep it in mind that the original 1073 was created as a mixing console preamp, so it sounded amazing on any source, and the 1073DPA carries on that tradition. ![]() ![]() The 1073DPA incorporates the channel strip's preamp section for all of that magnificent Neve coloration and quality in a compact, straight-forward one rack space package that is excellent for just about any source. The 1073 is available in a variety of configurations from Neve. Is the only one that can be traced all the way back to those original console modules from 1970. As a result, other manufacturers began producing their own versions of the 1073, and we have seen numerous reproductions in the hardware and digital modeling worlds since then. Engineers began removing the modules from consoles and mounting them on outboard racks, then selling them for exorbitant prices. The sound of the original console channel strips was so appealing that it was frequently described as lush, sumptuous, larger-than-life, and most importantly, musical. That console's sound was an instant smash, and Neve went on to build many more consoles for studios all around the world. It was designed as a transformer-based input and output solid state preamp and eq channel strip for the A88 console. The 1073 was never designed to be used as a stand-alone preamp. The 1073 was designed for a custom Neve model A88 console installed at Wessex Sound Studio in London. ![]() He began developing the classic pro audio gear that we all know, love, and adore, and by the 1970s, he had established himself as a major figure in the industry. Neves' roots may be traced back to the 1960s in Little Shelford, England, when audio gear was moving from tube-based to transistor-based topologies, and rupert Neve was at the forefront of the pro audio sector. The renowned Neve 1073 preamplifier is one such example. Because they have that special charm, these objects have become standard must-have parts for any studio live sound or instrument rig over the years. Certain pieces of equipment have established themselves as a benchmark by which all similar gear is appraised for the last seven decades or so. ![]()
